Two of the most demanding medical facilities in France. Two projects to redesign interventional procedure rooms. One thing they have in common: Surgiris equipment at the heart of the system.
A leading center for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and a university hospital in the Île-de-France region that is part of one of the major public hospital groups—both turned to Surgiris to equip their new procedure rooms with EPURE surgical lighting and ICN video management solutions. A technical overview of two large-scale projects in two distinct clinical settings.
Why These Institutions Chose Surgiris
Interventional suites are the most demanding environments in the operating room. They present a concentration of challenges that do not always exist in a standard multipurpose operating room: complex surgeries involving multiple surgeons working simultaneously, strict laminar airflow, multiple and diverse video sources, enhanced traceability requirements, and, in the case of a university hospital, the recording of procedures for educational purposes.
Faced with these constraints, the two institutions identified two key criteria that guided their decision:
Native lighting and video integration: Rather than selecting separate lighting and video management providers—with the compatibility, cabling, and support issues that entails—they opted for a comprehensive solution managed by a single point of contact. Lighting, field cameras, and the video station work together without the need for third-party interfaces.
French Manufacturing and Sustainability: In the context of public hospital procurement, the availability of replacement parts for 15 to 20 years, the proximity of after-sales service, and French manufacturing are criteria that are increasingly formalized in specifications. TheEPURE and the ICN video workstation are designed and manufactured in France.
The EPURE surgical light EPURE the interventional suite

The EPURE line EPURE designed to meet the demands of the modern operating room by combining high technical performance, advanced ergonomics, and long-term reliability.
MOTION-MATIC: Contactless, hygienic adjustments. This patented technology setsEPURE apartEPURE the market. A simple hand gesture is all it takes to adjust light intensity, color temperature, or focus—without touching the lamp or compromising the sterile field. In the operating room, where every move counts, this ability for the surgeon to make adjustments independently represents a tangible operational benefit.
FOCUSMATIC: zero moving mechanical parts. The adjustment of the light field diameter is controlled electronically, without any moving parts. For biomedical engineers, this ensures maximum reliability and uninterrupted service without mechanical failure throughout the equipment’s entire service life.
A wide, uniform field of light.EPURE a wide field of view with optimized shadow reduction—each LED module operates independently, and the light beams overlap the surgical field. Even when multiple surgeons are present, no shadowed areas appear in the surgical field.
Resistance to the rigors of hospital use. The EPURE line EPURE made of materials that are resistant to impacts and disinfectants—a non-negotiable requirement in high-traffic rooms with intensive cleaning protocols.
The ICN workstation in the interventional suite

In the interventional suite, the video management system must simultaneously handle multiple sources—surgical field cameras, endoscopes, intraoperative ultrasound systems, and hybrid suite imaging—and accommodate a variety of uses depending on the type of facility.
Centralization and distribution of video feeds. The ICN station aggregates all video sources in the room, distributes them to the medical displays, and enables real-time switching between them without the need for technical intervention during the procedure.
Identity Monitoring. In accordance with HAS recommendations, each record is automatically linked to the patient’s identity, time-stamped, and securely archived in the patient’s medical record. This feature, natively integrated into the ICN workstation, meets healthcare facilities’ requirements for surgical traceability.
Education and Telemedicine. In a university setting, the ICN station enables real-time video streaming to a lecture hall or training room, high-quality recording of presentations for educational purposes, and indexed archiving of these recordings. These features can also be used for telemedicine or remote supervision.
An integrated approach, from design to commissioning
These two projects illustrate Surgiris’s approach to interventional suites: a comprehensive solution that is integrated from the design phase onward, installed and commissioned by our teams, with user training included.
A single point of contact for lighting and video. Native compatibility between devices. After-sales service provided directly by the manufacturer, with replacement parts available for at least 15 years.
